Mobile Garden Classroom
We bring our garden curriculum to your classroom!
Mobile classes are an excellent extension to classroom science units! Choose from the following interactive and educational lessons to dive deeper into topics such as resource conservation, anatomy of organisms, natural cycles, interdependence and more.
Choose a Topic
Worms on Wheels explores the fascinating world of decomposers and the role of red wiggler worms in building healthy soil, plants and people. The lesson covers worm anatomy and how decomposers change food scraps and other materials into soil. Students will have the opportunity to observe the living creatures that make garden soil a complex and living ecosystem up close. (Appropriate for up to 24 students, preschool-3rd grade.)
Soil in a Box explores the fascinating question, "What is soil?" while investigating the living and non-living components of garden soil. Students have the opportunity to observe the creatures that make garden soil a complex and living ecosystem up close. This lesson is a great extension for science units on soils, rocks and minerals. (Appropriate for up to 30 students, 2nd-5th grade.)
Mighty Arthropods teaches about different creatures that can be found in the garden or backyard environment. We learn about the characteristics that all arthropods share and then learn about how spiders, isopods (pillbugs), myriapods (centipedes) and insects like ladybugs and aphids live and grow. (Appropriate for up to 30 students, preschool-3rd grade.)
Use It or Lose It makes waste reduction and recycling concepts fun and interesting. This lesson provides practical applications for classroom and household resource conservation. Use it or Lose it is intended to be a follow-up to Soil in a Box. (Appropriate for up to 30 students; 1st-6th grade.)
Dates & Times
We are available to come to your classroom year-round, Tuesday-Friday. However, availability is limited in the winter and summer. Please allow one week between each lesson if you are scheduling different mobile classroom topics for the same students. We are happy to lead back-to-back lessons of the same topic for multiple teachers within a school but prefer to stay in one classroom throughout the day if possible. Please allow at least ten minutes as a transition time between programs.
Cost
- $160 for a single lesson
- $100 per lesson for two or more consecutive lessons at the same school.
