Education Programs for Kids & Youth

— filed under:

Tilth Alliance's Children's Garden is sprouting young gardeners year 'round.

Our youth programs will be held in-person with reduced capacity and increased safety health precautions recommended by the Washington State Department of Health. Precautions include: limiting camp group sizes; conducting daily temperature checks; increasing sanitization of surfaces; maximizing outdoor time, staggering activity times, and practicing social distancing to the greatest extent possible.

Sitting in the Garden

Tilth Alliance’s education programs help young people of diverse backgrounds develop nourishing connections with their community and the natural world through meaningful learning experiences in fields, farms, and kitchens. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders to take active roles building a just and abundant food future for all.

Our youth programs provide opportunities for children to grow, prepare and eat food with a clear understanding of the interconnectedness of food, health, community and earth’s sustainability. Together, we discover where good food comes from. We use all of our senses to experience the seasons, tend and harvest crops, taste and learn from plants, cook up delicious dishes in the kitchen, meet worms and pollinators, collect seeds, build compost piles, do field-based science, make art and more.

Farm & Garden Youth Programs

At Tilth Alliance's farm and garden youth programs, kids 1-15 years old spend days outdoors being "urban farmers" — discovering where our food comes from and learning about the natural world. Camp is also a time to have fun adventures exploring our gardens and farm, making art, singing song and playing games — all with urban farm flair! Sign up for our farm & garden youth programs.

Scholarships

Tilth Alliance strives to educate everyone, regardless of their financial means. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please submit a scholarship application.

Camp & Class Waitlists

Once camps and classes fill, families can register to be notified if there are any openings by completing our waitlist request form online. Please do not call or email to join a waitlist.

Our Fall 2021 children's program waitlist is available now. Our Winter 2021 will be posted here in coming months.

In the case of a cancellation or expansion in our enrollment capacity, we will contact families on the waitlist to notify them, typically by email. In some cases, like when spots become available near the start date for the class, we may need to contact multiple families or the entire waitlist at once to announce the opening. In those cases, the spot is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the camp is full.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions
