Volunteer with Tilth Alliance

Get involved, meet people, and learn new skills as a volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Tilth Alliance! Volunteering is a great way to learn and build skills, meet new people, and get involved in Tilth Alliance's mission.

Your health and safety is our top priority! All staff and volunteers must follow health and safety protocols. Please review and commit to these protocols before signing up to volunteer:

  • Staff and volunteers commit to being screened for COVID-19 symptoms, which include cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a loss of taste or smell. Anyone with these symptoms will be asked to stay home
  • Staff and volunteers commit to following current public health guidelines.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer frequently, including when you first arrive
  • Sign-in and sign-out on the volunteer sheet
  • Bring your own garden or work gloves, if you can (we have clean gloves for you, too)
  • Wear a face mask at all times if working around others
  • Work in small groups
  • Keep as much distance from others as you can
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
  • Tools and high-touch surfaces will be sanitized by staff after use

Current Opportunities

Join us in setting up, running, and closing out our special community events. Events like the annual May Edible Plant Sale and Farm Fest in the fall require volunteer power to set up tents, tables, and signs, greet participants, help with activities and demonstrations, and tear everything down and tidy up after the event. We can't host these events without our amazing volunteers' support.

    • Rainier Beach Farm Fest 2021
Many thanks to the volunteers who came out to support Rainier Beach Farm Fest this year! We had a blast!
    • Pollinator Hillside Planting Party
Join our Garden Hotline educators for fall planting, mulching, weeding, and watering on the Pollinator Hillside at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands on Friday, September 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Learn by doing as you work alongside Tilth Alliance staff and other community members at our community learning gardens and the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. Depending on the time of year, you'll be weeding, harvesting food for local food banks, preparing beds for planting, caring for natural areas and more! No experience necessary, and gloves and tools provided.

      • Volunteer Packing Good Food Bags
Help make fresh, locally-grown fruits and veggies available to more members of our community! Volunteers weigh and pack produce that goes to local families and seniors.
      • Support the Summer Farm Stand
Keep this amazing community resource running smoothly. The farm stand sells fresh produce, plant starts, flowers, and locally-made goods. Volunteers weigh produce on Tuesdays or help set up or take down the Farm Stand on Thursdays.
