Volunteer at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands

Volunteer banner

Regularly-scheduled volunteer opportunities vary by the season and include farming, gardening, helping in the kitchen and working in the wetlands. If you’re interested in bringing a group out to volunteer, please complete a Group Work Party Request Form.

We provide tools and instruction for any tasks that need to be done -- no prior experience necessary! Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a water bottle that can be refilled on site.

Caring for the wetlands at the farm is supported by Seattle Parks and Recreation as a part of the Green Seattle Partnership, a collaboration between the City of Seattle, Forterra, community groups and non-profits, businesses, schools, and thousands of volunteers working together to restore and actively maintain the City’s forested parklands.

Your health and safety is our top priority! All staff and volunteers must follow health and safety protocols. Please review and commit to these protocols before signing up to volunteer:

  • Staff and volunteers commit to following current public health guidelines and being screened for COVID-19 symptoms, which include cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a loss of taste or smell. Anyone with these symptoms will be asked to stay home
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer frequently, including when you first arrive
  • Sign-in and sign-out on the volunteer sheet
  • Bring your own garden or work gloves, if you can
  • Wear a face mask at all times if working around others
  • Work in small groups and keep 6 feet apart from others when possible
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
  • Tools and high-touch surfaces will be sanitized by staff after use
