Children’s Garden at the Good Shepherd Center

GSC-Kids-FlowerPicking.jpgTilth Alliance's original Children's Garden is located behind the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood. It evolved from an abandoned swimming pool basin more than twenty years ago, due to the hard work of community members.

Teachers in our children's garden education program have developed unique hands-on garden curriculum over the years. In 1996, Seattle Tilth published a teaching manual based on their experience called, "Teaching Peace Through Gardening," written by Anne Petersen and edited by Rob Peterson.

Today, the Children's Garden provides educational hands-on tours and summer camps for 5,000+ people each year. It is one of several gardens where Tilth Alliance teaches kids to grow food and care for living things.
